US ISM Manufacturing PMI: The Purchasing Managers Index is a diffusion index summarizing economic activity in the manufacturing sector in the US. The index is based on a survey of manufacturing supply executives conducted by the Institute of Supply Management. The IHS Markit India Manufacturing PMI declined to 54.5 in February 2020 from a near eight-year high of 55.3 in the previous month, but beating market consensus of 52.8. Output, new order and export growth rates were little-changed from January's recent highs, while the pace of job creation was the weakest in three months. The report was issued today by Timothy R. Fiore, CPSM, C.P.M., Chair of the Institute for Supply Management ® (ISM ®) Manufacturing Business Survey Committee: “The February PMI ® registered 50.1 percent, down 0.8 percentage point from the January reading of 50.9 percent. In January 2020, the comprehensive PMI output index was 53.0 percent, 0.4 percentage point lower than that of last month, and stayed above the threshold, indicating that the overall expansion of production and operation activities of Chinese enterprises has slowed down.
